We did not yet know where we should direct our suspicions, when outside the dining-room a huge ruckus was raised, and – shazam – Spartan dogs actually ran about/began to run about the table. A dish followed them, on which a boar of outstanding size had been placed, and in fact wearing a cap of freedom, from whose teeth two little baskets hung – one filled with fresh dates, the other with dry ones.
